Helping youths in the care of the DYP in the Outaouais region

October 11, 2022

As part of its new regional initiatives support fund, the Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ is proud to support Belvédère Jeunesse Outaouais, an organization helping youths aged 16 to 21 as they transition to adulthood. Thanks to $35,000 in financial support, the youths housed there can receive psychosocial support.

Thanks to Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ, we now have an incredible opportunity to better support and equip the youths, who are tomorrow’s future, so they can grow and develop to their full potential in our society.

The Fondation’s contribution will allow the youths to get support from a psychosocial counsellor who will help them find a job or housing, among other things.

Helping more youths

In view of increasing the impact of its actions and to address ever-increasing needs, the Fondation expanded its mission about a year ago. It now helps youths in the care of the DYP elsewhere in Quebec, by supporting organizations and initiatives in place in outlying regions.

Preparing youths in the care of the DYP across Quebec to become independent was one of the major issues raised in the Laurent Commission’s report. It was crucial for the Fondation to support projects that encourage housing stability and acquiring skills required for adulthood in a safe and caring environment.

Partnerships such as the one with Belvédère Jeunesse Outaouais can help increase the impact on youths in the care of the DYP. These youths, regardless of where they are in Quebec, need us to hear them, to listen to them and especially for us to mobilize for them.

Thank you for the wonderful work, Belvédère partners, and thank you for accepting our offer!
