The current socio-economic situation is a major roadblock for youths in the care of the DYP who are trying to build a future. Seeing such extensive engagement for them is very touching and, especially very reassuring!
The second edition of the Soirée des Grands was a big hit again!
The Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ is proud of the success of the second edition of its Soirée des Grands benefit event. A net amount of $918,000 was raised that evening, which has become a fixture on the Quebec philanthropy scene and can make a real difference in the lives of youths in the care of the DYP.
Presented by BCF Business Law and Metro Supply Chain, the Soirée des Grands was held on May 16 at Windsor Station. Nearly 700 guests from business, government and philanthropy got together to support youths in the care of the DYP.
The evening’s theme was “Prom Night Memories,” and it raised the guests’ awareness that all young people should be able to experience that pivotal moment, and come away with happy memories and a great sense of pride, plus their high school diploma.
Remember, currently only 25% of youths in the care of the DYP earn their high school diploma before the age of 19. This piece of fact reminded guests how important it is to support these youths.
Dustin, a young man aged 19 supported by the Fondation throughout his schooling, had an exchange with Mathieu Lacombe, Minister of Culture and Communications and Minister Responsible for Youth. They both shared moments from their own past with the DYP, moving the audience and reminding them how supporting youths in the care of the DYP means investing in our collective future.
« Our respective institutions are very proud to support an organization as important as the Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ, which works unrelentingly so that the most vulnerable youths in our society can build a future that is on par with their abilities. Joining forces to rally around this critical cause in Quebec is a privilege, because in philanthropy there are only allies.»
