Youths from four youth centres were able to take part in a slew of sports activities over the summer. Some got reacquainted with a sport they used to play, while others simply fell in love with a new sports activity.
This project was made possible by a generous donation from the Jumpstart Foundation, which allowed for the purchase of equipment. The passionate and motivated students majoring in health and physical education from Université de Montréal were also crucial as they were the ones who devised and led the physical activities based on the youths’ interests and abilities.
The educators saw very positive changes in the youths’ behaviour and self-confidence over the weeks. Some even showed interest in pursuing their sport.

The purpose of this initiative is to encourage youths to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle in the long term.
In pursuit of this goal, a group of boys aged 12 to 17 had the opportunity to ride their bikes over the summer. Each boy in the group received a bike, which they now own. In the summer, they were able to follow the bike routes planned by their educator, based on their capability.
These inspiring initiatives are funded by the generosity of the Jumpstart Foundation. A loyal partner of the Fondation des jeunes de la DPJ, enabling youths in the care of the DYP to be active in the summer, year after year. Thank you!
